The Position – Summary

As part of the global ERP implementation team, you will be the subject matter expert in manufacturing and scheduling processes. Your responsibility will be to define, test, document and implement standardised processes as part of an enterprise-wide blueprint. These activities will be focused around our core ERP system but with interfaces to ancillary business systems, particularly including finite scheduling (Preactor) along with shop floor data capture (TWS)  and business intelligence (Cognos).  This is a major transformation project which has the objective of driving both system and process efficiencies through the standardisation of business processes, supported by a single operating platform.

Your tasks will range from process analysis and definition to system configuration, data migration, user training, documentation and development of relevant process adherence KPIs, report definition and delivery. While many tasks are embedded into our implementation projects, there will be a degree of support activity.

Implementation Expert Role Objectives

  • Increase operational efficiencies through the implementation of globally standardised processes, and a single ERP platform
  • Identify & close process gaps from those defined in the Business Systems template and standard M3 solution
  • Champion the transformation elements of the project
  • Work with key site resources to deliver a standardised global solution
  • Ownership of all elements of business process implementation, including process design and the delivery of documentation, system configuration, data migration, end user training, report writing, end user security and system support.
  • Ensure data accuracy both at implementation and for live sites
  • Act as a subject matter expert for manufacturing, engineering, planning and scheduling functions including third party interfacing systems.

Implementation Expert Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the functional and technical design of manufacturing processes within the global ERP solution, based on the Business Systems template and standard M3 solution
  • Implement and improve advanced planning & scheduling and shop floor data capture systems interfacing with M3
  • Implement processes and controls to drive accuracy of both transactional data and master data.
  • Act as subject matter expert for production planning, scheduling and manufacturing execution within the IT organisation.
  • Requirements gathering, prioritisation and qualification of identified gaps.
  • Document the current ‘As Is’ process at site level and identify gaps against the target operating model.
  • Deliver & implement robust processes which will address the identified gaps
  • Deliver process and technical documentation for business processes
  • Utilise project best practices in the delivery of business processes
  • Work directly with third party suppliers to implement the delivery of interfacing barcoding and business intelligence solutions.
  • Delivery of training documentation, and user training
  • Definition of role based security observing guidelines defined by audit for the distribution and warehousing functions in the core ERP and ancillary EDI interfaces.
  • Core system configuration to support business process.
  • Support and facilitate key project phases including system, integration and end user testing, conference room pilot, user training, migration & cutover, and post go live support.
  • Delivery of report specifications and business intelligence reporting.  This may require engagement with both internal and external resources
  • Delivery of business documentation across a multi-language platform
  • Lead the data migration efforts for the data elements required for this function, including the delivery of data maps, source system data cleaning activities, and reconciliation logs.
  • Provide weekly reporting and KPI’s to the project management team to facilitate project status reporting.
  • Post go live review to ensure business processes and applications are being used and designed, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support the benefits of process improvement

Required Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience implementing Global ERP systems in discrete manufacturing and distribution environments in a multi-currency environment with localised language packs.
  • Expert in manufacturing processes ideally within an engineering business, and in depth understanding of ERP core business processes and best practice approaches.
  • Experience in Movex, M3 or other iSeries based systems desirable.
  • Experience working in a global discrete manufacturing and distribution organisation
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand complex scenarios and provide solution proposals
  • Experience applying business process management and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to work with all levels of the business, and with both technical and non-technical staff. Credible and professional
  • Methodical, highly organised and self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
  • Good communications and presentation skills, ability to communicate with multicultural audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to influence people not managed directly
  • Ability to work under pressure, to prioritise conflicting requirements, and manage expectations effectively
