A Successful iTrent Implementation Made Possible Through Specialist Expertise
When implementing iTrent at scale for one’s business, the right expertise makes all the difference. For many organisations however, finding the skillset needed to make it a success can be a real challenge. When faced with a tight timeline and a limited budget in particular, the ideal resource solution for one’s project can feel elusive.
Grappling with such issues in their hiring efforts, one client reached out to our team for support in sourcing an iTrent Business Analyst. Here’s how we helped them find the hire they needed to get their iTrent implementation back on track.
The Requirement
The client was midway through an iTrent implementation across multiple businesses, aiming to consolidate 29 separate payrolls into one system. With over 15,000 employees affected, they sought an iTrent Business Analyst to come in and support payroll migration and consolidation.
The ideal candidate would have a good blend of functional and technical skills that would know iTrent inside out and reliably help in the payroll migration of their iTrent system.
However, with a restricted budget to work with and even more limited time, this search proved to be a real challenge and the client was unsure of where to turn next to find a suitable candidate that could start immediately – which was when they reached out to IT Works.
We were quick to set up a meeting to further understand the client’s current situation, specific requirements, and the proposed scope of project resources. Once done, the following objectives for the role were established, with the chosen candidate to provide support over a 9-month period:
Main Objectives
- Identify and resolve payroll variances across 29 payroll systems.
- Provide and document fixes
- Roll out subsequent training sessions to end users.
- Assist in the consolidation and migration of payrolls.
- Enhance overall efficiency by reducing errors and improving system workflows.

Finalising Requirements
With requirements set, we immediately got to work delivering skillset options to the client, and within 24 hours, provided them with 9 suitable profiles.
Connecting Experts
A shortlist of 3 candidates to be interviewed was then drawn up by the client, with interviews taking place over the course of 3 days after initial conversations.
Interview & Offer Stage
Once the client had identified the profile they felt was most qualified quality and fit-wise, an offer was made to the chosen candidate approximately 2 weeks later.
The Delivery
The introduction of the new Business Analyst eased pressure on the existing team, enabling a smoother consolidation process. Their involvement directly contributed to enhanced accuracy, quicker turnaround times, and a more efficient payroll migration across the affected businesses.
The analyst’s expertise led to streamlined workflows and improved documentation, allowing for targeted end-user training. This had a positive ripple effect on staff productivity and overall system adoption, positioning the organisation for smoother operations post-implementation.
