Role Purpose

The IFS Technical Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting technical solutions within IFS Cloud or IFS Applications. The role focuses on implementing customizations, integrations, reports, and automation to extend the functionality of IFS, ensuring the ERP system meets business needs efficiently and securely.


Key Responsibilities

1. System Development & Customization

  • Develop and implement technical solutions within IFS using IFS Developer tools.

  • Customize forms, screens, menus, and workflows to meet business requirements.

  • Develop and maintain IFS reports (Quick Reports, Lobby dashboards, BI tools).

2. Integration & Interfaces

  • Design, develop, and support integrations between IFS and external systems via APIs, Web Services, or middleware.

  • Implement data exchange solutions, including batch processing, EDI, and automated workflows.

  • Collaborate with functional consultants to understand business requirements for integration.

3. Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues within IFS applications.

  • Provide production support, including monitoring, incident resolution, and system optimization.

  • Assist in system upgrades and patch management.

4. Data Management & Migration

  • Support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities for system implementations and upgrades.

  • Develop scripts and tools for data cleansing, migration, and validation.

  • Ensure data integrity and system consistency across modules.

5. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Maintain technical documentation, including specifications, configuration guides, and code repositories.

  • Share knowledge and best practices with internal teams and other consultants.

  • Provide guidance on IFS development standards, coding practices, and system architecture.

6. Collaboration & Project Delivery

  • Work closely with functional consultants, project managers, and business stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.

  • Participate in workshops, design sessions, and review meetings.

  • Ensure timely delivery of solutions aligned with business priorities.


Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in IFS development tools, IFS Application Studio, and IFS Developer Workbench.

  • Knowledge of IFS scripting, workflow configuration, and form extensions.

  • Experience in API development, Web Services, SQL, PL/SQL, and database management.

  • Familiarity with IFS reporting tools and BI solutions (Lobby, Quick Reports, Birst/Analytics).

  • Understanding of IFS system architecture and module dependencies.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement.

  • Ability to document and explain technical solutions clearly.

  • Team-oriented and adaptable in fast-paced project environments.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.

  • 3–8+ years of technical experience with IFS Cloud or IFS Applications.

  • Experience in ERP system implementation, support, or development.

  • Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Java, .NET, or JavaScript is a plus.

  • IFS technical certification (preferred).
