Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead IFS Technical Consultant to take ownership of the technical design, development, and delivery of solutions across the IFS ERP platform. This role will act as the technical authority for IFS, responsible for ensuring best practice development, overseeing integrations, supporting upgrades, and guiding technical strategy across the ERP landscape.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders, functional leads, and third-party partners, providing leadership across all technical aspects of IFS Applications / IFS Cloud, including customisation, integrations, architecture, and performance optimisation.

This role requires both hands-on development capability and technical leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

Act as the technical lead and subject matter expert for IFS
Define and enforce development standards and best practices
Provide technical direction across projects, upgrades, and enhancements
Review and approve technical designs and solutions
Mentor and support technical and functional team members
Work with architecture and IT leadership to define ERP technical strategy

Development & Customisation

Lead development within IFS Applications / IFS Cloud
Design and build custom objects, extensions, and modifications
Develop using:
- PL/SQL / SQL
- IFS Developer Studio
- Aurena / Projections / Lobbies
- Custom Events / Workflows
- Reports / Data migration tools
Ensure all development follows upgrade-safe and best practice approaches

Integrations & Architecture

Lead integration design using:
- IFS Connect
- REST / SOAP APIs
- Web services
- Middleware / Azure / Integration platforms
Own technical architecture for ERP integrations
Ensure scalability, performance, and security of solutions

Upgrades / Cloud / Implementations

Lead technical activities for:
- IFS upgrades
- IFS Cloud migrations
- New module implementations
- System improvements
Provide technical impact assessments
Support release planning and deployment strategy

Stakeholder & Project Engagement

Work with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
Engage with vendors, partners, and consultants
Support project delivery across multiple workstreams
Provide technical input at design authority / steering level

Support & Continuous Improvement

Provide escalation support for complex technical issues
Optimise system performance and stability
Identify opportunities for automation and improvement
Maintain technical documentation and standards

Required Experience

Extensive experience with IFS Applications (Apps 9 / Apps 10) or IFS Cloud
Proven experience in a Lead / Senior / Architect-level IFS technical role
Strong expertise in:
- Oracle SQL / PL-SQL
- IFS Customisation & Extensions
- IFS Connect / Integrations
- Aurena / Projection / Lobby development
- Data migration / data fixes
Experience leading ERP technical workstreams
Experience working on upgrades, implementations, or cloud transitions
Strong understanding of ERP architecture

Desirable Experience

IFS Cloud implementation or migration experience
Experience with Azure / cloud platforms
Experience with DevOps / CI-CD / release pipelines
Experience in Manufacturing / Engineering / Aerospace / Energy / Service industries
Consultancy or client-facing experience
Experience managing offshore / remote teams
