IFS Technical architect

Role: IFS Technical Architect
Location: London
Reporting to: IT DIRECTOR
Salary: £90,000 per annum


Role Purpose

The IFS Technical Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and assuring the technical architecture of the IFS ERP platform and its integrations. This role ensures that IFS solutions are scalable, secure, high-performing, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards and business strategy.


Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

  • Own the end-to-end technical architecture for IFS Applications / IFS Cloud.

  • Define target and transitional architectures for ERP, integrations, data, and security.

  • Design robust solutions for upgrades, migrations, and new module implementations.

  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles and IT strategy.

Governance & Standards

  • Establish and enforce technical standards, patterns, and best practices for IFS.

  • Review solution designs from vendors, partners, and internal teams.

  • Ensure compliance with security, data protection, and regulatory requirements.

Integration & Platform Engineering

  • Design and oversee integrations between IFS and:

  • CRM, HR, Finance, Data Warehouses, BI platforms

  • Third-party systems via APIs, middleware, and event-driven architecture

  • Guide use of IFS APIs, Connect, REST services, and integration frameworks.

  • Ensure performance, resilience, and scalability of the IFS ecosystem.

    Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Act as technical authority on IFS programmes and projects.

    • Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and delivery leads.

    • Support implementation partners with architectural direction and quality assurance.

    • Mentor internal technical teams and build long-term IFS capability.

    Operational Excellence

    • Provide architectural input into incident resolution and major change.

    • Support roadmap planning for upgrades, patches, and platform modernisation.

    • Drive continuous improvement in system reliability and maintainability.


    Key Skills & Experience

    Essential

    • Proven experience as a Technical Architect or Solution Architect in complex ERP environments.

    • Strong hands-on experience with IFS Applications or IFS Cloud.

    • Deep understanding of:

    • IFS architecture (Aurena, Business Reporter, Lobby, IFS Connect, APIs)

    • Integration patterns (REST, message queues, middleware such as Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft, Boomi, etc.)

    • Cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS acceptable).

  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Security architecture (identity, access management, SSO, role-based access)

  • Data architecture and reporting solutions.

  • Experience leading technical design in large ERP programmes or transformations.

    Desirable

    • Experience with:

    • IFS Cloud migrations or major version upgrades

    • DevOps, CI/CD, and release automation

    • Microservices and event-driven architectures

  • IFS certification (e.g., IFS Technical Consultant / IFS Cloud Technical).

  • TOGAF or equivalent architecture framework certification.
